ABOUT SD NEURODANCE
San Diego NeuroDance is a collaboration between adults living with neurological diseases, their caregivers or loved ones, physical therapists, and dancers. By providing symptom-based and diagnosis-based classes, SD NeuroDance creates a safe and specialized environment that allows persons living with disability to experience the joy of dance with their loved ones.
NeuroDance hosts welcoming drop-in dance classes designed for people with neurologic movement impairments and their loved ones where accessibility, creativity, and self-expression take center stage.
Whether you dance from a chair, with a walker, or on your feet, this class honors every body’s unique rhythm and ability.
There are no right or wrong moves—.All participants are encouraged to move at the level of comfort that is safe & accessible to them. You know your body & limits best; we are here to support you in any way we can. Guided by a supportive instructor, knowledgeable physical therapists, spirited volunteers, and uplifting music, you’ll explore breath, rhythm, and expressive gestures that connect you to joy, community, and the power of dance. Come as you are. Leave with a smile.
We have 3 ways for you to get your groove on:
REGISTER Gentle Groove: A slower-paced dance class that uses our available motions to explore new movement pathways without overworking muscles. Class includes gentle partnering to build connection with your loved ones or new friends. We recommend this class to people living with high spinal cord injury, sclerotic diseases (MS, ALS) , and progressive atrophying conditions (muscular dystrophy, Huntington’s).
REGISTER Power Groove: An energetic dance class that encourages big and expansive movements. Classes include fun explorations of partnering. We recommend this class to people living with Parkinson’s (and Parkinson’s Plus Conditions), brain injuries, stroke, cerebral palsy, and low or incomplete spinal cord injuries.
REGISTER Mixed Groove: All are welcome in this expressive and inclusive dance class.
