The Malashock Dance School: Past Events

  • January 2007: The Malashock Dance School opens its doors
  • Winter Showcase 2007, December 2008: Performances by students in Fall/Winter Semester classes, including the New Works Workshop with John Malashock
  • ArtWalk 2008, April 2008: Students perform at the outdoor art festival, ArtWalk
  • Spring Showcase 2008, June 20 & 21, 2008: Performances by students in Spring Semester classes, including the New Works Workshops with Michael Mizerany and Debi Toth
  • Kids Camp, Ages 6-9, June 23-27, 2008: Each day students explore several new dance styles in upbeat, creative and fun classes including jazz and modern dance, ballet, yoga, hip hop, choreography and improvisation, musical theater, movement games and much more!

  • Master Class with Shen Wei Dance Arts, March 20, 2009, 10 am-12 pm. Master Class with James Healey, Rehearsal Director and former Malashock Dance Company Member.
  • ArtWalk 2009, April 2009: Students perform at the outdoor art festival, ArtWalk
  • May 2009: Master Class with Ballet Preljocaj
  • May 2009: New Works Workshops, with John Malashock and Michael Mizerany
  • June 2009: Spring Showcase at Sushi: A Center for the Urban Arts. Performances by students in Spring Semester classes, including the New Works Workshops with John Malashock and Michael Mizerany, and Malashock Dance company members and faculty.
  • July 2009: Summer in San Diego, 2-week summer workshop for intermediate, advanced, and professional dancers. Workshop performance: Saville Theater, City College.
  • July 2009: Kids Summer Dance Camps with the Peninsula Family YMCA, ages 5-8 & 9-12
  • August 2009: Performance at Celebrate Dance Festival, Balboa Park
  • November 2009: New Works Workshop with John Malashock
  • December 2009: Winter Showcase, December 12 & 13, 2009. Students put emotion in motion through Hip Hop, Contemporary Dance, Adult Modern Technique, and New Works Workshops. Featuring new choreography by John Malashock and a guest performance by Malashock Dance company members Bradley R. Lundberg & Nicholas Strasburg.
  • December 26, 2009: Fourth Annual Free Day of Dance, Dance Place San Diego.  Our holiday gift to the community—an entire day of free dance classes!
  • February 2010: 4 Sundays in February Master Class Series with Keith Johnson of Keith Johnson/Dancers, Bradley Michaud of Method Contemporary Dance, Jennifer Backhaus of Backhausdance, and John Malashock of Malashock Dance.
